Money or Cash is the currency used in Transport Tycoon which can be obtained through numerous sources, such as doing jobs and selling items. Eventually investing in businesses will earn you money passively.
Acquiring Money
Working
- Doing jobs in general is a reliable source of direct income. The amount of money earned is determined based on your job & equipment level. In general: the higher they are, the more money you get.
You may resort to other means of obtaining money in which you can increase your earnings (in)directly via:
- Selling Items on the Marketplace , it's a quick way to earn cash. Be aware of the 5% service fee. Don't always go off of the estimated marketplace value. The value is easy to manipulate and is sometimes much higher than existing offers on the Marketplace. You also lose another 10% once the offer has been sold.
- Buying and investing in Businesses , a long-term process which generates passive income but will only earn you profit in the long run.
- Visiting the Fountain of Wealth will give you an amount of cash donated by other players to get you started.
Tips
Beginner Tips
While there are many ways to obtaining money, here are a few tips that may help you decide how you can make money efficiently.
- Garbage Collector is one of the good paying jobs early game that doesn't require prior skills. The salary increases as you advance in levels which helps you in your journey to become rich.
- Airline Pilot is also recommended for a starting job if you have a good spatial awareness and coordination to control an aircraft.
- Trucking: Highest paid job end-game stage. Process and deliver goods. Advanced routes will unlock upon leveling up. They will earn you more, but will require better and more expensive Trailers.
- Will be used in combination with Vehicle Trunks
- It is recommended to increases your Strength level. Strength increases your inventory capacity, which will become a priority for jobs that require you to transport heavy goods.
- Doing side activities such as Prospecting, Treasure Hunting or EXP Boost Hunting and then selling the items you receive to other players.
- Don't be afraid to spend cash on better Trailers for trucking. They will allow you to be more efficient over time as you will be able to transport more goods at the same time.
Advanced Tips
- In the process of doing Trucking, It's more worth selling the products to other Players via Self Storages rather than exporting them to the NPC/AI. Given that some materials, such as Concrete are used in advanced trucking which increases its sale value when trading is applied.
- Sometimes it's worth selling the Bonus EXP items you get from doing Jobs to other players for extra quick cash.
- Similarly, with the Cargo Pilot Perk activated, you will receive 50% of the (would have been earned) experience as Bonus EXP instead, at the expense of not gaining any Experience at all. This results in earning money more quickly when listing the tokens on the Marketplace or when they're sold to other players.
