Guns are only obtained through and used for a few activities, listed below:

The Hunter job gives guns to be used to hunt animals. As your Hunter level increases, you'll be given newer and better upgraded weapons.
The P.I.G.S. company needs guns for their heisting activities. Their headquarters supplies guns based on the rank of the employee.
Firearms can sometimes be found through Prospecting, which can be cleaned to reveal a random weapon.
Across the map there are several hidden easter egg gun pickup spots. Due to them being easter eggs, it will be up to you to find them.
